Classifying shapes introduces our kids to a new type of mathematical thinking than what they’ve been doing all year. Instead of focusing on calculations, this asks students to sort and organize information based on a set of definitions. The more familiar they are with the definitions, the easier it will be to classify a given shape. I will be sharing a no-prep activity tomorrow you can do with your student to help them get familiar with these shapes, along with questions you can ask them to help
